Since his release last year, Ruki has travelled several times outside the country (Sri Lanka). In the beginning, he needed the court permission as his case is not yet drop. However, we now need to get another signature campaign, as the Sri Lanka Attorney General Department indicates that his travel restriction is still in place.
We need your signature support for our friend Ruki Fernando gag’s order and travel restriction. This message will be very important to be sent to the new Government of Sri Lanka, to lift the travel restriction of Ruki.

Ruki Fernando and Fr. Praveen Mahesan, OMI, had been arrested last Sunday night, (March 16), then released on Wednesday evening without any charges after two days of questioning. They are currently again in a situation of “house-arrest” by the court order that the three Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) officers came to inform them on Thursday 20.
According to the HR organizations in Sri Lanka, this order has been given by magistrate no 2 of Colombo upon a request made by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of the Sri Lanka police. This court case is an unbelievable court order imposed on Ruki Fernando and Fr. Praveen Mahesan. According to this court order, both of them are not allowed to speak to anyone including their loved ones and they will be prevented from all communications and freedom of movement. Copies of this order have been sent to the directors of Immigration and Emigration at international airports at Katunayake and Mattala, the director of the State Intelligence Service, and the director of the Criminal Investigation Department too.
Ruki and Father Praveen have been released last night without any charge. Why this success?
Aware of the risks he ran, Ruki could, as soon as arrested, send a message to his network which immediately passed on to other networks. The chain reactions were very quick, interventions or demonstrations near embassies , info on the first page of international NGOs websites, communication Facebook ....
