1517 and all that ... The Relevance of the Reformation Today
Saturday 28 October 2017, 10:30 - 15:30
Hits : 711

The Protestant Reformation, in its noble aim of radically purifying Christian belief and practice, convulsed Europe and led to massive fragmentation and conflict.   The next centuries saw the resulting divisions spread throughout much of the world, with different western Christian traditions developing quite different heritage and cultures.  The last 100 years has seen a re-examination of the Reformation goals and convergence towards greater Christian unity.  What has been the impact of the Reformation on the world of today – religious and secular?   Four speakers from a range of western Christian traditions will give their views, followed by a panel discussion.

Speakers:

Bishop Martin Lund (Bishop of the Lutheran church in Great Britain)

The Revd Canon Dr Charlotte Methuen (University of Glasgow, Anglican Priest)

The Revd Professor John Morrill (University of Cambridge, Roman Catholic Deacon)

The Revd Dr Patricia Took (former President of the Baptist Union of Great Britain)

Organized by Newman association and St Albans Cathedral Study Centre
