Our Father (all)
Conclusion (Fr. Luis Maria Goikoetxhea with final comments by Kevin Ahern)
Introductory Text by Elizabeth Muller
Good morning to all of you.
We are meeting here today to celebrate the life and memory of Father Antoine Sontag.
We all surely have memories of our individual relationship with Antoine who knew how to be a close aumonier, good listener and with a especially humble way of talking about complex themes with a vast and deep knowledge of history and social life from his own culture while being open to know other cultures and stories.
In addition to these individual meetings we want to honor here the life of Antoine as an aumonier of communities of our Pax Romana MIIC and JECI Movements. Our movements are lay christian communities that are not at all clerical shaped and for this reason is not always easy to find priests who accept the challenge of accompanying us.
Antoine Sondag has accepted the challenge of accompanying as international aumonier of our movements, in this position he was the aumonier of international teams and he also had contact with local and regional communities spread all over the world, with which he had meetings not regular but no less significant..
For the international teams Antoine has always been the discreet but attentiful, respectful of laic autonomy and at the same time clear of the need for his contribution as Pastor. His discretion, in contrast with the riguer and solidity of his knowledge, allowed him to play a significant role in the teams.
We will thanks God for his life, his commitment with so many groups and to have offered very important part of his life to our movements as a bet for the formation of communities of students, professionals and intellectuals which have, based on their faith, sensitivity for the neighbor , a deep look at the structures and the need for change in favor of the poor.
He will continue among us through his teachings to help us follow Jesus Christ..
